ADBLUE - BP Plus Bunker Diesel Fuel Card
-
Since October 2006 all new vehicles (with a weight of 3.5 tonnes and greater) will need to meet the requirements of Euro 4 regulations and, from October 2009 onwards any new registration will have to be Euro 5 compliant. This will impact in excess of 100,000 commercial vehicles and busses registered annually in the UK.
In order to meet the demands of Euro 4 & 5 commercial vehicle manufactures (OEMs) have evaluated various engine development technologies. Two technology options have emerged, the favoured and more widely used, Selective Catalytic Reduction System (SCR) which uses Ad blue and EGR technology.
The SCR system substantially reduces Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions by converting it into harmless nitrogen and water through the use of a special catalytic converter and a non-explosive, non- toxic, non-flammable, water-based urea solution called AdBlue. That means that these new trucks and buses will be fitted with an AdBlue tank as well as a fuel tank.
EGR relies on recalculating the exhaust gases back into the engine for further burns to reduce the levels of Nitrogen Oxide and Carbon Monoxide.

BP Ultimate is a range of unique diesel and petrol fuels that deliver more performance with less pollution.
BP branded AdBlue will shortly be available on the BP network. It will be offered in branded 10 litre cans (with pouring spout) - enough solution to enable a SCR fitted vehicle to run for 250 miles - and, at selected high bunkering sites, branded bulk dispensing units will be made available. Customers of the fuelcard people can use their BP Plus Bunker Diesel Fuel Card to purchase BP branded Adblue
