The prospect of being offered a company car is one of the biggest attractions for young people when considering what avenues to pursue in their future career.

New research from Skoda UK has revealed how the benefit packages on offer by businesses play an important role in helping young people (aged 17 to 24) to decide which career opportunities to pursue in the future.

Overall, almost nine out of ten (88 per cent) respondents believe the package of additional employee benefits (aside from basic salary) plays a crucial role in helping inform their decision on job offers.

Furthermore, the relative draw of certain benefits were shown as well, with 66 per cent claiming the offer of a company car would be too good to turn down.

Other top employee benefits were shown to be good pension contributions (62 per cent), flexible working hours (62 per cent) and a high number of holidays (53 per cent), but the company car was still more attractive overall.

Henry Williams, head of fleet at Skoda UK, said: "Our research shows company cars are very appealing to workers of all ages, but particularly young people.

"We see this trend strongly outside of London, where many companies are based at out-of-town locations – making a car essential for the daily commute."

Businesses across the UK should therefore take heed, with the extent of their own fleet offering something that could prove a real attraction to the best and brightest of the next generation of professionals.
