29 January, 10 Diesel Direct fuel cards are set to be of use to an increasing number of motorists over the coming 12 months, according to UK Car Group. This is because more and more drivers are set to battle the ever-rising cost of fuel at the pumps by switching to a diesel car from a petrol-powered auto, the group claimed. People across the country have been motivated to make this move by the return of the 17.5 per cent VAT rate, it said. The company explained that car owners are keen to make the change because diesel offers a "much more economical performance". "Fuel prices are definitely playing a part in people's choice of car [and] we're finding more and more customers are making the switch from petrol," the sales director of Carcraft Mike Walsh stated. Despite the fact that the fuel is more efficient, drivers may still benefit from Diesel Direct fuel cards to save some extra cash at the pumps. Since VAT increased from its 2009 level of 15 per cent, diesel prices have risen every week, Office for National Statistics figures have revealed. Posted by Tammy Brooks
