02 February, 10 Diesel fuel card customers have been hit by more bad news as official figures revealed that pump prices are not seeing any fall in price. The Office for National Statistics' weekly fuel prices summary found that the average cost of one litre of diesel in the UK stood at 113.7p on February 1st 2010, maintaining its level from the previous week. It means that costs at the pump have either stayed the same or risen at the start of every week so far this year. Motorists with diesel fuel cards may recall that just 12 months ago, a litre of the fuel set them back 99.82p, a fall of 13.9p on the current value. The prolonged surge in diesel costs has coincided with the return of the 17.5 per cent VAT rate, which came back into effect on January 1st 2010. Commenting last month on the pain which motorists are facing at the pumps, the AA's head of public affairs Paul Watters said: "The winter weather isn't the only problem sending a shiver through drivers."
