Business diesel cards news: Enough is enough on fuel duty, says RHA

17 February, 10
Haulage firms with business diesel cards have had enough of the constant hikes in fuel duty imposed by the government.

This is according to the Road Haulage Association (RHA), which sent its chief executive Geoff Dunning and director of policy Jack Semple to discuss the matter with Treasury minister Sarah McCarthy Fry.

During the meeting the RHA was able to bring up the issues surrounding the need to maintain investment in the UK's road network - particularly in the wake of the recent cold snap - but the summit was dominated by fuel duty.

Mr Dunning pointed out that hauliers, including those with business diesel cards, have seen a 16 per cent rise in fuel duty over the last two years.

These increases have contributed to the high price of diesel, which currently stands at an average cost of 113.68p per litre.

"I was able to lay our cards firmly on the table and tell those present that, as far as fuel duty is concerned, enough really is enough," he explained.
