Business diesel cards news: Government 'will offer no help over fuel duty'

17 February, 10
Companies have been advised to take advantage of business diesel cards because they will get no help from the government over fuel duty.

Businesses across a range of sectors are going to be hit with rising costs whichever party wins the forthcoming election, with fuel set to be one of the areas subject to the most significant hikes, warned general manager of The Fuelcard People Steve Clarke.

Any firm which spends at least £500 per month on fuel could benefit from having a business diesel card, which will save them between 2p and 3p per litre, he said.

This is likely to be welcomed by any company which regularly incurs fuel costs, particularly given that the average price of diesel in the UK currently stands at 113.68p per litre.

Mr Clarke added that even firms which already have business diesel cards should take the time to ensure that they are getting the best possible deal.

"Reducing fuel costs can and should start right now," he said.
