06 May, 10 British drivers prefer Conservative transport plans over those of rival parties, according to a new survey. A poll conducted by the Parker's motoring website revealed just under half of participants favoured Conservative policies. However, the study varied wildly from conventional opinion polls as Ukip came second with 20 per cent of the vote. The site's editor Kieren Puffett warned that Labour's staggering of the incoming fuel duty hike had done little to placate motorists, adding: "Based on the Parker's poll, the Conservatives would be voted into power as being the party that is best set to look after the UK motorist." According to the research, Labour trailed David Cameron's Tories by a 35 per cent margin in third place, while the Liberal Democrats, who have enjoyed a better-than-expected election campaign, followed with ten per cent. Last month, the SNP repeated their call for a cut in rural fuel levies and accused the Westminster parties of ignoring Scottish concerns.
