05 July, 10 British motorists have been forced to adapt their driving habits because of the rapid increases in fuel prices over the last few months, according to the RAC's 2010 Report on Motoring survey. The organisation found that drivers are now more concerned about the cost of fuel than they are about climate change, with nearly three-quarters of those questioned not considering purchasing a more eco-friendly car without government support. "With a new coalition government settling itself into Downing Street, there is scope to reopen the dialogue and give motorists a fairer deal," the study stated. "Their concerns are reasonable and their wish list feasible." Just over half of participants revealed they have cut back on the number of short trips they make by car, while 40 per cent are making less long journeys - although just four per cent said they are doing so because of environmental worries. Last month, research by Nationwide Autocentres discovered that 55 per cent of people are shopping around for cheaper fuel deals. Find out more about the BP fuel card and start saving now.
