Fuel card news: Fuel savings 'can prevent job cuts'

Public sector organisations can avoid the worst effects of government spending cuts by changing the way they pay for fuel and potentially saving thousands of pounds in the process.

According to The Fuelcard People's dedicated public sector team chief James Richmond, some departments could save scores of jobs by adopting the appropriate fuel card and cutting back on bureaucratic expenditure.

"A single weekly invoice covers all refuelling for every vehicle in the fleet. Then, a single payment is made automatically by direct debit," he explained. "Staff who previously spent countless hours juggling fuel-related paperwork are freed."

Mr Richmond added that fuel cards can bring numerous benefits to government-backed firms, providing discounts on fuel, two weeks' interest-free credit and a better idea of how much petrol and diesel will cost.

Earlier this month, the National Federation of Builders named The Fuelcard People as its strategic fuelcards partner.
