10 August, 10 Struggling British motorists have been advised to remain calm, despite recent research suggesting that the country could be set for significant increases in fuel prices. Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, AA spokesman Luke Bosdet acknowledged that drivers are becoming increasingly worried about the potential impact of the growing cost of crude oil and rising wholesale prices. "Drivers cut back not because they want to but because they have to and they are hitting back. We've seen wholesale prices go up a number of times over the last year," he said. "The message we would be giving to motorists is - don't panic." Mr Bosdet admitted that people in some areas have been subjected to an "appalling fuel price lottery" in recent months and claimed the average tank of petrol is £7 more expensive than it was at this point in 2009. His comments came after a study from RMI Petrol warned the cost of fuel could exceed an average of 120p per litre within a matter of weeks.
