03 September, 10 A leading figure at protest group TransAction has criticised the government's lack of action on fuel duty and suggested a repeat of its previous demonstrations could be on the cards. Speaking to Roadtransport.com, founding member Mike Presniell lamented successive governments' failure to tackle the issue effectively and claimed little had changed since refinery blockades almost brought the UK to a halt in 2000. "We are still looking for the same things as we were when [the 2000 protests] started. Fuel is still going up, duty is going up, we can't claim it back. We are still saying the same thing," he told the website. Mr Presniell added that although the direct action of ten years ago brought disruption to other areas of British business, he insisted the haulage industry had had no choice but to make its dissatisfaction known. According to Petrolprices.com, British drivers are paying an average of 117.8p for a litre of diesel. Improve the efficiency of your business and your fleet with the business fuel card.
