09 September, 10 Drivers in a Sussex town are reportedly growing increasingly frustrated with local fuel prices, after it was revealed they could be paying as much as 6p per litre more than those in nearby areas. According to a recent report by This is Sussex, major filling stations in East Grinstead are charging up to 117.9p for a litre of petrol, while some outlets in Brighton have set their prices at just 111.9p. "We're being ripped off around here," said local taxi driver Gerry O'Shea. "If one increases the price of fuel, then so will the others. It does make it tough for people in our industry, but the bottom line is they don't care." His sentiments were echoed by Council for Voluntary Services chair Elizabeth Peel, who warned that the cost of filling up is having a detrimental effect on charities in the region. Last month, research from fuel retailers' body RMI Petrol predicted that prices could increase by as much as eight per cent over the next year.
