According to a new online survey by the Worldtrucker forum, 50 per cent of its members watch their fuel consumption; and the reason for doing so appears to be twofold. Commenting on the findings, Andrew Low, who heads up driver training at Volvo Trucks, said: "It is important to work on awareness of this issue so that drivers understand that their efforts do make a difference." For motorists in search of a new vehicle, fuel consumption is one of the key considerations - with 27 per cent looking specifically for an economic vehicle.
