Fuel card news: TNT reveals new fleet

27 January, 12 Logistics provider TNT has announced the introduction of its new fleet of vehicles that will replace its 107 Linehaul tractor units that are presently in service. So far, 22 of the vehicles have been replaced as part of the company's efforts to bring in 190 new five-tonne vehicles and an additional 60 7.5-tonne trucks over the coming year. The company is also set to introduce a new range of extended-length trailers and double-decker vehicles to further improve fuel efficiency and competitiveness in 2012. Simon Harper, TNT's director of operations, said: "This equipment will be deployed across the network to equalise annual mileage and to meet the revised London Emission Zone regulations being introduced on January 3rd 2012." He added that the improvements are designed to boost capacity for the logistics provider, as well as facilitate cost savings. The news follows an announcement by Eddie Stobart that the haulier has completed the first delivery in the UK using a new extended trailer under a government Vehicle Special Order - the first of 1,800 trailers to be introduced across the country.
