Greening the Fleet

  • Prioritise the issue of your fleet's impact on the environment
  • Enlist management (where applicable) to support the implementation of new green measures
  • Record and analyse fuel consumption to identify areas that can be improved
  • Assess the use of alternatively fuelled vans to see if they may be beneficial to your business
  • Ensure vans are properly maintained. Poorly maintained vehicles have higher fuel consumption and can be potentially dangerous
  • Reduce emissions by improving routing and scheduling
  • Introduce driver training to help improve fuel consumption and create a 'greener fleet'
  • Reduce van mileage. For example, consolidate loads more efficiently. Fewer miles means less fuel consumed
  • Review new technology to improve your fleet, including telematics, selective catalytic reduction systems, diesel particulate filters etc
