Prices for Honda’s highly-anticipated diesel manual Civic hatchback will start from £20,120 when it hits showrooms in February.

An automatic version will follow in the summer, but for now, the six-speed manual diesel will be available over four trim levels.

You already know that the entry-level S model will boast a list price of £20,120, but elsewhere in the range, the SE will cost £20,220, rising to £22,065 for the SR, topping out at £24,925 for the EX variant.

Buyers opting for the flagship version can pay an extra £600 to include the Tech Pack, which adds LED headlights with washers, LED fog lights, wireless phone charging and heated rear seats. Considering the biting cold much of the country is suffering right now, this optional pack sounds like a sound investment.

PCP pricing has also been confirmed for the new Swindon-built Civic, with monthly payments starting at £249 a month on a three-year 5.9 per cent APR contract for the 1.6 i-DTEC SE manual.

‘Technologically advanced’

Honda says that the Civic’s comprehensively revised 1.6 i-DTEC engine can deliver an outstanding combination of performance and efficiency, producing 118bhp at 4,000 rpm and 300Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.

Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, added: “The arrival of the diesel variant completes the line-up for the Civic hatchback in the UK.

“This 1.6 i-DTEC is the most technologically advanced diesel unit we have launched to market and will deliver a very competitive offering for both the retail customer and the fleet market.”

Heather Stark, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, went on to say: “The Honda enjoyed a brilliant rebirth in 2017 and the arrival of this new diesel version is sure to prove a hit with business and private motorists alike.”
