Images of the new-look Honda Jazz have emerged online, ahead of the supermini’s physical unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Some of the most notable changes include a revised exterior styling and interior trim, as well as the addition of a new 128bhp 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine.

From the outside, the Jazz incorporates the Japanese brand’s ‘Solid Wing Face’ headlight signature and grille, with a sharply sculpted front bumper and more aggressive contours around the air vents.

Around the back, gloss black trim links the shallower grille section to a trapezoid lower section. Buyers can order their Jazz in a new colour: metallic skyride blue.

Meanwhile, the new engine option balances modest about-town performance with attractive fuel economy, which returns 52.3 mpg at 124g/km CO2 emissions when mated to Honda’s CVT automatic transmission.

This engine is being offered as part of Honda’s new Dynamic trim level, which adds LED headlights, front fog lamps, side sill skirts, a tailgate spoiler and gloss-black 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, this new grade includes a unique pinstripe pattern on the upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, enhanced by orange stitching.

As with the current mk3 Jazz, there’s class-leading passenger space and 354 litres of boot space, which expands to 897 litres with the rear seats collapsed.

Every Jazz – regardless of trim – comes with cruise control, automatic headlights and the City-Brake Active safety system.

Opting for higher grades unlocks a seven-inch infotainment system, rear view parking camera, keyless entry and start, as well as advanced safety technologies such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition.

The jazzed-up Jazz will be available to order from November, with the first models being delivered to customers early 2018.

Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, comments: “The Jazz’s facelift is right on time, coming roughly two years on from the introduction of the third generation model. But it also coincides with the arrival of the all-new Ford Fiesta, which has effortlessly dominated this section of the market for the best part of a decade. It should be interesting to see how the Jazz copes in the face of such a major player.”
