One of the best-known names in the fuel card industry, The Fuelcard People, has re-located its headquarters to Wantage. Steve Clarke, general manager, said: “Having enjoyed success and growth ever since the company began, we outgrew our original location. The easy option would have been a move to larger premises within that business centre, but we re-evaluated what we want from a headquarters. Wantage ticked all the boxes for The Fuelcard People. For many of us, this represents a homecoming, having worked in Wantage with a previous employer.”

The decision has been confirmed by continuing success. Since completing the move during March, the company has recruited three more account managers from the local area to handle growing demand.

When Steve Clarke established The Fuelcard People in early 2008, he hand-picked former colleagues to join him and it was always the intention that the original base, in Abingdon, would only be temporary. The company is now permanently established in Manor Farm Barn on Manor Road, Wantage. The new offices have been fitted out with the state-of-the-art systems for which the company is known.

“Wantage is a growing town,” said Steve Clarke, “with a lot to offer any business. It is the perfect location from which to serve our ever-increasing nationwide customer base, so if Wantage was good enough for Alfred the Great, it is good enough for us.”

The Fuelcard People helps all types of company to reduce their fuel costs, offering a range of fuel cards from such leading brands as BP, Esso, Shell, Texaco and Total. These allow the users to purchase diesel and petrol at a discount, typically 2p to 3p below national average pump prices. Any company spending £500 or more monthly on fuel, and able to pass a routine credit check, should use fuel cards to cut costs. Other benefits include reduced administration and improved security.
