Any drivers of Mercedes-Benz cars covered by the brand’s breakdown service can now expect to be rescued by the RAC after it was appointed as the German carmaker’s official roadside assistance partner in the UK and Europe.

The RAC will support Mercedes-Benz Cars in ensuring customers are stuck on the roadside for the least amount of time as possible, with RAC technicians attending call-outs with brand-specific diagnostics equipment and parts.

Whether it’s a misfuelled car, a technical problem or a lost key, the team will be there to respond at any time throughout the year. In the event of a non-repairable puncture, customers will be able to get back on the road, thanks to the RAC’s innovative Universal Spare Wheel.

Europcar has also been signed up as a replacement hire car partner to ensure that Mercedes-Benz customers can complete their journey if the fix can’t be completed by the roadside.

Sally Jones, customer services director at Mercedes-Benz Cars UK, said that the partnership with the RAC will ensure that its customers receive the very best service when they require roadside assistance.

“We will benefit from the RAC’s national coverage, which means that we will be able to respond more quickly, with less inconvenience for our customers,” she commented.

All new Mercedes-Benz models come with comprehensive, complimentary UK and European roadside assistance cover for the first three years, which is automatically renewed whenever a Mercedes-Benz retailer completes a service on the vehicle.

Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, adds: “Mercedes-Benz is a hugely popular name in the company car market so fleet managers will gain some peace of mind knowing that all their Mercedes vehicles are covered in the event of a breakdown, even if they’re not even in the UK.”
