A super powerful version of Volkswagen’s Amarok is now available to order, ahead of deliveries this September.

Priced at £34,325 (basic excluding VAT and OTR), the new range-topping Amarok is powered by a three-litre V6 TDI engine that can pump out 268bhp as standard, and keeps 14bhp overboost in reserve to give it that extra oomph when required.

This powertrain is so exceptional that it is the current holder of the International Pick-up of the Year title.

It can whip up more torque – 580Nm instead of the 550 to date – which is available between 1,400 and 3,000 rpm, with full power on tap from 3,250 to 4,000 rpm.

Permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox also come as standard on the top-end Amarok.

Aside from the engine, the new flagship Amarok satisfies customers looking for a versatile, luxury double-cab pick-up by packing in tons of equipment.

Based on the Highline trim, this variant adds a host of features on top of the standard Amarok’s already generous specification. This means you get plenty of fleet-friendly safety gear, like ABS, ESP and an automatic post-collision braking system.

There’s also climatronic air conditioning, Composition Media infotainment system with touchscreen and App-Connect, 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and side bars, front and rear parking sensors with rear-view camera and Vienna leather upholstery.

While this new range-topping Amarok rings in at more than £34k, you can pick up the entry-level model, the 163 PS Trendline, for £10k less (£24,510).

Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, comments: “The pick-up segment has boomed in recent years and the Amarok has undoubtedly been one of the biggest names in the market.”
