You really should check your tyres at least once a month and before you head off on a long journey.

Tyres that are low on tread have less grip than new tyres. When braking, you want to be able to rely on your tyres gripping the road properly to allow you to slow down.

Your manufacturer’s guide that came with your car will tell you what tyre pressures you need for the front and back tyres. Or they may be written on the door sill on your driver’s side.

When you are checking your tyre pressures you should also check for any signs of general wear and tear. Also check for any damage such as cuts, lumps or bulges.

New Year’s resolution – Ensure your tyres are inflated to the pressure level recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
