The next generation of automotive sector professionals are being given the chance to showcase their imagination and innovative ideas at the coming Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show.
Groups of 13 and 14-year-olds will take on the task of designing all aspects of a new commercial vehicle, with the youngsters in charge of everything from style, space, fuel efficiency and telematics, through to overall costs.
It forms part of the CV Show Make-it Challenge Dragons event and will see the kids given the opportunity to put their eventual designs to a Dragons' Den-style panel of some of the CV industry's biggest names.
Chief Dragon, Ian Jones of solicitors Backhouse Jones – specialist lawyers in transport law – stated: "The Make-It Dragons want to hear ideas from tomorrow's transport operators.
"How will hauliers of the future use technology to pool resources and make freight journeys more profitable? Do they believe in driverless vehicles? They should as they are already here!
"What we need are the interested young people required to make the technology work for the common good."
Other dragons on the panel will include chief executive of the Road Haulage Association Richard Burnett, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Freight Group MP Rob Flello, Iveco director for brand and communications Nigel Emms and Microlise managing director Bob Harbey, among others.
Taking place at the Birmingham NEC from April 26th to 28th, the CV Show 2016 will see many of the UK's top automotive designers in attendance to showcase their latest models and the all-new innovations in the nation's CV sector.
