A new guide outlining current road transport legislation throughout Europe has been published by the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

Nobody knows for sure what post-Brexit trading arrangements will look like, but the FTA’s ‘Shippers’ Guide to European Road Freight’ aims to provide sound advice on how to manage haulage and third-party logistics supply chain operations in a new global marketplace.

It gives shippers a complete overview of current legislation and trading arrangements throughout Europe, as well as details of the likely impact of Brexit on their operations.

Chris Welsh, the FTA’s director of global and European policy, said: “Shippers are under greater scrutiny than ever before to take responsibility for accurate weight declarations and load security.

“This updated guide provides a wealth of information and best practice advice including the CMR convention, road transport legislation, international trade and customs procedures.

“No shipper consigning or receiving goods by road to and from Europe should be without this essential guide.”

Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, adds: “For many industries, these are uncertain times and the FTA should be commended for trying to provide a little clarity.”
