Road safety charity and vehicle breakdown specialist Gem Motoring Assist has highlighted what it describes as the 'three Cs' of road safety and claimed employing these practices is even more important now children across the UK have returned to school.

Care, courtesy and concentration are the watchwords for drivers now the busy school run has started once more, with motorists urged to take the time to help one another and not to get frustrated by the increased levels of traffic that coincide with this time of day in particular.

It is not just in the mornings though, as the three Cs are applicable to road users all day long.

David Williams, chief executive officer at GEM, commented: "To help drive home the importance of the three Cs, we believe that courtesy should be given much more prominence during driving lessons and in the driving test."

He added courtesy can be infectious, as when drivers show some appreciation and understanding to other road users this can quickly spread.
