GEM Motoring Assist has called on UK motorists to undertake regular eye examinations in order to ensure their vision is not impaired when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
David Williams MBE, chief executive officer of GEM, commented: "Looking at things from a road safety perspective, poor vision is a significant factor and, for drivers both young and old, regular eyesight tests are extremely important."
He added that DVLA driving licences have to be renewed every ten years and this should act as a major prompt to ensure individuals are getting their vision checked.
Earlier this month, GEM also published a new pamphlet aimed at female motorists offering advice on how to deal with the most common road safety hazards.
It includes a checklist of essential items that should be carried in the vehicle at all times, as well as providing regular maintenance tips and advice on how to deal with potentially dangerous situations.
