Iconic sports car manufacturer Ferrari has published its annual results for 2012 and revealed that the company saw its best ever year to date.

Delivering an eight per cent rise in total revenues to €2.43 billion (£2.09 billion) and a 12.1 per cent increase in trading profits to €350 million, the firm entered 2013 on a high.

The company witnessed a 4.5 per cent upturn in deliveries last year to 7,318 vehicles, while it also reported record sales in the US, UK, China and Germany.

"We are all enormously proud of ending the year with these kinds of results despite the unfavourable economic backdrop in many European nations and the distinctly hostile one in Italy," commented Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo.

The news comes as Ferrari is now also celebrating being named the most influential brand in the world by Brand Finance – coming out on top of the organisation's annual list of the 500 biggest brands on Earth.
