Support for action group FreezeFuelTax.com is being called for by The Fuelcard People.

Fleet managers, businesses and motorists across the UK are being urged to give their support to the campaign, which is arguing for a freeze in fuel duty to halt the growing burden of fuel costs for all sections of society.

Steve Clarke, general manager of The Fuelcard People, commented: "Having the highest fuel taxes in Europe is no help for an economy trying to climb out of recession."

He added that the company exists to help commercial road users reduce their fuel costs and The Fuelcard People is right behind the FreezeFuelTax.com campaign.

All those in support of the move are therefore being advised to write to their MP to call for a freeze in fuel duty for the remainder of this parliament.

According to FreezeFuelTax.com, when motorists pay for fuel at the pumps the vast majority of their payment is being sent straight to the exchequer. The group states that out of every £30 paid, £18 (60 per cent) goes to the government.
