The new Ford B-Max has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating this month.
It received an overall test score of 83 per cent, with excellent performance in the adult protection (93 per cent) and overall protection (84 per cent) categories.
Tom Overington, Ford's European safety project manager, said: "The team has worked very hard on making sure B-MAX meets the safety standards our customers expect from every Ford vehicle."
In order to achieve this aim, the vehicle manufacturer subjected the new B-Max to more than 5,000 simulated crash tests during the production and development phase, while it also carried out in excess of 100 real-world crash tests of its own.
Earlier this week, the Volvo V40 also broke records in terms of Euro NCAP performance, achieving the highest-ever five-star score by any vehicle.
It scored maximum points in the safety assist and pedestrian protection categories, as well as 98 per cent in adult occupant protection.
