Mercedes-Benz has announced the release of its new A-class model lines and pricing, opening up a whole new sector for the vehicle manufacturer.

Five models will make up the A-class offering in 2012, with vehicles starting on the road from £18,945.

SE, Sport, AMG Sport and BlueEfficiency models will supplement the basic A-class, delivering a range of performance, fuel efficiency and green credentials to buyers this year.

At the end of May, the company announced the launch of an innovative new marketing campaign for its A-class range, designed to boost enquiries about the new brand – simply featuring a picture of the new A-Class model with the hash tag: #NewGeneration.

David George, Mercedes-Benz passenger cars marketing director, noted at the time: "The Pure and Simple campaign is designed to raise awareness of the new generation for Mercedes-Benz and is the beginning of a major launch for this exciting new vehicle."
