Sussex Police have become the latest group to signal their support for TyreSafe's campaign to raise awareness of tyre maintenance and safety issues.
The south coast constabulary will actively promote several schemes designed to educate motorists about the issue, having previously joined forces with TyreSafe for last year's Tyre Safety Month.
Established in 2006, TyreSafe has since helped cut the number of people seriously injured or killed in tyre-related incidents by 38 per cent.
The organisation's campaigns for the remainder of 2012 will be targeted at groups such as fleet operators and young drivers.
PC Phil Barrow, road safety officer at Sussex Police, said: "We fully endorse TyreSafe's ongoing campaigns to make drivers aware of the issues surrounding defective or illegal tyres and will do everything that we can to help it in its future activities."
Earlier this month, TyreSafe claimed 98 per cent of part-worn tyres sold by UK retailers are illegal as they do not meet the necessary requirements.
