Scottish Chambers of Commerce, the umbrella organisation for 26 individual Chambers of Commerce across Scotland, has appointed The Fuelcard People, a Fuel Card Group company, as their preferred fuel cards supplier. Its 9,000 member companies, representing more than half of Scotland’s private sector, now have access to discount diesel and petrol not just throughout Scotland, but across the UK. Their individual fuel card accounts will all be handled at The Fuelcard People’s Bellshill headquarters.

Lower fuel costs and reduced administrative workloads are just the start of the benefits available to Scottish Chambers members. Fixed weekly pricing for diesel, petrol or both means typical saving of up to 5p per litre on national average pump prices, 10p per litre on motorway prices, and applies nationwide. The single weekly invoice also allows members up to two weeks of free credit before their direct debit payment. Most importantly, there are no transaction fees – some fuel card suppliers levy a charge of £2 or more on each refuelling stop.

A Scottish Chambers member is not pushed towards any particular fuel card, but receives impartial advice on the most appropriate card for their individual needs. In addition, they will always talk to the same dedicated account manager, who knows their business, rather than queuing to explain who they are to an anonymous call centre operator. Depending upon which fuel card or cards members choose, they can refuel at thousands of filling stations throughout the UK. The Fuelcard People range includes fuel cards that are valid at BP, Esso, Shell and Texaco sites as well as supermarkets, independent retailers and specialist diesel networks.

Other benefits include 24/7 secure Internet account access, including transactions yet to be invoiced. Custom reports are available on demand, for download directly into standard business packages. The use of eServices means that the whole process can be paperless and administration-free.
