The UK commercial vehicle sector achieved record values in February for the third consecutive month, new figures from British Car Auctions (BCA) have revealed.

According to the latest BCA Pulse update, February's average value of £5,345 was the highest since the organisation began taking records in 2005 and represents a £23 increase in typical sales values from January and is up by 11.6 per cent from February 2013.

During the last 12 months there has also been something of a shift in the type and age of vehicle most commonly coming to market, with average mileage rising from 78,770 to 81,346 and typical age at point of sale growing from 58.55 months to 60.73.

BCA general manager for commercial vehicles Duncan Ward commented: "Online buyers continue to figure strongly, accounting for some 26 per cent of purchases during February. This reflects the fact that good quality stock remains at a premium and professional buyers are quite literally casting the net further."
