Vehicle manufacturer Ford has highlighted the ongoing popularity of its latest models among UK motorists, with more than 100,000 of its new-plate vehicles purchased since September.
Official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have shown 101,037 64-plate registrations have been completed by the company in September and October – the largest two-month purchase volume for the firm since March/April 2008.
Ford of Britain chairman and managing director Mark Ovenden commented: "Fiesta and Focus continue to lead the UK market while the success of our extended Ford CV family can be measured by the fact that total Transit nameplate sales exceed those of any car – apart from Fiesta and Focus.
"These sales results are founded on a continuous stream of new models and innovative technology delivered through our dealer partners, who make up the strongest network in the UK."
He added that the UK market remains extremely buoyant for the manufacturer, with October sales volumes exceeding every other UK vehicle operator.
Ford remains the UK's most popular vehicle manufacturer, holding the top two positions for sales for both October and the year to date with its Focus and Fiesta models.
Official SMMT statistics show vehicle sales for the company in October totalled 179,714 – up 14.2 per cent on the same month last year. Furthermore, the firm's year-to-date vehicle sales have risen by 9.5 per cent to 2,137,910.
Ford continues to perform strongly across all areas of the automotive sphere, with its commercial vehicle range witnessing a 30 per cent upturn in registration during October, with the Transit and Courier models proving particularly strong in recent months.
The manufacturer's B-MAX, Focus, C-MAX, Kuga and Galaxy models were all also highlighted as having been especially popular among both fleet and private buyers in recent months, with strong sales for the company across the board.
