Members of the public and travellers planning to use the A38 near Derby in the coming years have been invited to examine new plans regarding essential improvements for the route, as well as being given the opportunity to have their say on the proposals.
Plans for the rollout of a £220 million project to streamline traffic flows at three separate junctions – Markeaton, Little Eaton and Kingsway – along the route are now being considered, with the Highways Agency holding a public exhibition for the scheme this weekend.
The event coincides with a current public consultation on the proposals that will run until March 13th and is being held at the Enterprise Centre on Bridge Street in Derby on Friday and Saturday (February 6th and 7th).
All those interested in finding out more about the proposed introduction of flyovers and underpasses at each of the aforementioned junctions is invited to head along, with the exhibition to be open from 12:00 to 20:00 GMT on Friday and from 10:00 to 16:00 the following day.
Mark Hartharn, project manager for the Highways Agency, commented: "We're hoping to meet lots of local people during the two-day exhibition – their views are very important to help us deliver the best improvements possible to the busy junctions along the A38 in Derby.
"We're looking forward to meeting everyone and discussing our proposals in more detail."
A significant increase in traffic volume is expected for the A38 in the coming years and each of the junctions could become a bottleneck for future travellers if action is not now taken to smooth traffic flows.
Full details of the scheme can be found on the Highways Agency website. Alternatively, anyone in the local area can head along to the exhibition this weekend where all their questions will be answered.
