Alfa Romeo has confirmed the pricing of its first ever SUV – the Stelvio – which will rival the BMW X3 and Jaguar F-Pace when it arrives in showrooms this September.

The sharp-looking hiked-up soft-roader made its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June, where it caught the attention of many a petrolhead and now we know how much it will set us back.

Prices for the most basic Stelvio start at £33,990 on the road for the 2.2-litre diesel model with 177bhp and rear wheel drive, rising by £700 for the 197bhp 2.0-litre petrol with all-wheel drive (£34,690).

Mid-tier Super models range between £36,190 and £38,490 depending on engine choice, with prices for the range-topping Speciale Stelvio swinging between £41,490 and £43,690.

That’s not all though. A special limited launch edition – the Milano Edizione – maxes out on the bells and whistles by adding 20-inch V-spoke alloys, a ten-speaker audio system and convenience features like keyless entry and reversing camera.

Prices for this launch edition model ring in at £43,990 for the diesel and £45,390 for the petrol.

For any company car drivers, the 2.2-litre 207bhp diesel with all-wheel drive is the most appropriate option, emitting just 127g/km of CO2 and returning 58.9mpg on the combined cycle. It is no slouch though, completing the benchmark 0-62mph sprint in 6.6 seconds. With a 134mph top speed.

The Stelvio’s strong scores during Euro NCAP crash tests lend it even more fleet suitability, with a five-star rating and 97 per cent score in the adult occupant protection section.

Ben Robb, brand manager at The Fuelcard People, adds: “SUVs are one of the fastest growing vehicle segments in the UK right now, with Jaguar and SEAT also recently launching their inaugural SUVs with the F-Pace and Ateca respectively. The Stelvio looks like another great addition to the ever-expanding SUV marketplace.”
