The AA has highlighted the important role it played in the coronation of the Queen and looks forward to similar duties for the upcoming jubilee celebrations.
AA president Edmund King commented: "Almost 60 years since our patrols helped at the coronation, we are delighted to be involved in the preparations for the Diamond Jubilee celebration."
He added that both Prince Philip and Prince Edward have been past presidents of the organisation and the AA is therefore keen to continue its association with the royal family by helping the jubilee celebrations run as smoothly as possible.
Furthermore, the Queen was even taught to drive by AA-owned BSM, while Her Majesty also opened the AA's Basingstoke headquarters.
Earlier this month, the Institute of Advanced Motorists highlighted the many important road safety measures that have been introduced across the country during Her Majesty's 60-year reign.
These include the introduction of safety belts for motorists, drink-drive limits and the mandatory use of helmets for motorcyclists.
