Engineering, construction and property company Eric Wright Group has announced it has purchased a new Vauxhall Ampera to bolster its fleet as part of a test to reduce the firm's annual CO2 and fuel usage.
The business has decided to invest in the new Ampera model in order to examine the green benefits of a shift in its fleet management policy, with a greater focus on sustainability and fuel reduction in order to deliver environmental benefits and savings.
"As a large construction group we are committed to reducing the effect we have on the environment," commented Steve Openshaw, plant manager for the group's Site Support Department.
He has personally taken charge of the new Ampera and will feed back to the rest of the firm on the impact of the all-electric vehicle over the next four years.
The news follows the publication of research this week from British Car Auctions, which highlighted ongoing high fuel prices as the single most important issue for UK motorists today.
