Planning holds the key to avoid headaches when taking your vehicle on tour this summer.
Footman James managing director Andy Fairchild advised motorists planning a getaway with their car that they should contact their insurer before heading abroad to make sure they are covered.
Indeed, some providers do not give cover outside the UK and this something motorists need to be aware of.
He said: "This cover is vital for many a stranded motorist. If roadside repairs can't be carried out, then you and the vehicle will be taken to a suitable garage. Again, this is something insurers might not offer, so this must be checked before you set off."
The Institute of Advanced Motorists also last month issued a number of handy tips to drivers planning to take their vehicles abroad this summer.
Car owners should remember to take regularly breaks to avoid fatigue, as well as being aware of the laws surrounding their vehicle in the different countries they plan to visit.
