Families across the UK that are impacted by road traffic incidents are set to receive best practice support from local authorities and organisations keen to ensure they are properly catered for, it has been revealed.
Road safety charity Brake, in association with the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and the Police Federation, has organised a conference to give advice to family liaison officers across the UK who have the difficult task of dealing with those families affected by road accidents.
The event will offer advice to these individuals on overcoming language and communication barriers, specialist support referrals, helping those affected by a crash overseas and highlighting how services are developing for the support of bereaved and seriously injured road crash victims.
ACPO lead on family liaison commander Simon Foy said: "Each officer works on varying and complex cases and a forum in which to share best practice and explain to third parties more about this role is to be welcomed."
Earlier this month, Brake called for improved financial support from the government for families affected by road traffic accidents across the UK.
