Vehicle manufacturer Ford has picked up an accolade at the annual Motability Operations Supplier Awards.
The company secured the commendation from the organisation for its efforts over the past months to support the Motability programme, with Ford delivering in excess of 48,000 converted models to the scheme in 2011.
"Last year was fantastic, with Ford handling more applications from Motability customers than any other manufacturer," commented Ford's Motability manager Petra Hynds.
Motability Operations oversees the Motability scheme that was set up by the government in 1978 and since then, more than three million cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs have been provided to disabled Brits by the initiative.
At present, the scheme supports more than 600,000 families and individuals across the UK who would have little to no access to transport without it.
Ms Hynds added that to win the commendation was a real honour for the firm and Ford now looks forward to even greater success with the scheme in the future.
