Vehicle manufacturer Chevrolet has announced considerable global sales growth during the last 12 months, leading to the company reporting its best ever year for sales.

According to the firm's annual review, sales witnessed a 2.1 per cent increase last year in comparison to 2011 to 9.2 million units.

The US was the company's busiest market with 1.85 million units sold, while considerable improvements in activity were seen in a number of other countries, including Russia, China, South Korea and India in 2012.

"Chevrolet is in the midst of the most aggressive rollout of new products in its history, which helped us deliver our ninth-consecutive quarter of record global sales," commented Chevrolet Europe president Susan Docherty.

Meanwhile, Mini has reported an equally excellent last 12 months, with the vehicle manufacturer making more deliveries in a full year than ever before. The firm saw the expansion of its range to seven models in 2012, while it sold a total of 301,526 vehicles.
