Continental has been named Tyre Manufacturer of the Year by trade journal Tire Technology International for 2014.
Nikolai Setzer, Continental executive board member responsible for the firm's Tyre Division, commented: "This is great appreciation for our global tyre team for the successful execution of our long-term growth plan, which is based on substantial investments in expanding our existing tyre plants."
Jury member David Shaw, head of research at Tyre Industry Research, stated the decision to award this honour to Continental was not a difficult one.
The manufacturer has combined a strong strategic vision with an excellent product range over the last 12 months; with the firm's car and truck tyre products continuing to receive praise from a range of independent testers and fleet operators.
Continental's vice president for engineering tyres Jorg Nohl and head of truck tyre retreading for Europe, the Middle East and Asia Christian Sass collected the award at a gala ceremony in Cologne this week.
