Vehicle safety organisation TyreSafe is being supported by three new local authority partners in its efforts to promote greater tyre safety awareness among UK motorists.

Councils from the Wirral, St Helens and the Shetland Islands have all joined up in time to promote October's Tyre Safety Month campaign, with vehicle owners across the country being advised on the importance of maintaining correct tyre pressures.

Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, said: "While it's always great news to welcome new supporters, it's particularly pleasing to see those from the public sector who can make a huge difference to road and tyre safety in their respective regions."

Drivers up and down the UK need to be aware of the dangers of neglecting tyre safety – such as failure to carry out regular checks before embarking on journeys – and it is partnerships such as these that will help to further promote this message.
