Japanese tyre manufacturer Falken has announced the development of a new compound that provides improved grip in the wet and better fuel efficiency for vehicles.

Falken has unveiled its new ZIEX ZE914 tyre, which the company claims offers a 3.8 per cent fuel saving to users in comparison to a non-optimised tyre. The new product also features a silica component, which helps to increase contact with the road surface.

Suitable for a range of models – including the Ford Mondeo, Mazda 5, Skoda Octavia and VW Golf – the product could be a popular choice with fleet managers hoping to improve the efficiency of their vehicles.

Last month, Falken announced the launch of its first product to be available in Europe – its Wildpeak WP/AT01 tyre.

Suitable for all-terrain vehicles, the tyre has been developed to meet the challenging requirements of providing excellent grip and durability in the most extreme driving conditions.
