Tyre manufacturer Falken has announced the launch of a new winter tyre featuring an innovative new tread pattern.
The company has released its new Eurowinter HS449 product, which it claims provides improved handling in wet and icy conditions, as well as better drive stability and braking.
In addition, the firm claims its new tread pattern also makes the tyre quieter than previous models, helping to boost all-round comfort for drivers.
Utilising the latest in computer design, the HS449 features 45 per cent more tread coverage than standard dry weather tyres and it is this increased contact with the road surface that makes all the difference in terms of braking and handling in difficult conditions.
Meanwhile, chairman of road safety charity TyreSafe Stuart Jackson advised last month that motorists should always check their tyres before embarking on any journey.
He advised checking both wear and tear and pressures to ensure this important part of any vehicle is in proper working order, as a puncture or blowout at speed can be deadly.
