Vehicle manufacturer Fiat has announced the UK debut of its new 500L Trekking model.

Standout features of the new vehicle include Fiat's City Brake Control – offering improved safety at low speeds – as well as the company's Traction+ system. This enables the model to handle harsh and slippery terrain with ease and costs far less than conventional 4×4 systems.

The 1.6-litre 105 hp MultiJet diesel model will be available to purchase for £19,590, while the petrol version starts from £17,095.

Elena Bernardelli, marketing director at Fiat UK, commented: "The new model will appeal to style conscious families who require the space for five people combined with functionality and practicality."

She added improved safety features and high-impact styling make the 500L Trekking a winner for buyers.

The news follows a recent award for Fiat's Doblo Cargo light commercial vehicle, with the model named traders' choice winner at the 2013 Trade Van Driver Magazine Awards.
