The latest BCA Pulse report has highlighted an upturn in headline fleet vehicle values last month.
According to the monthly publication, average fleet and rental values stood at £8,526 in January – up from £8,509 in December and considerably higher than the £7,435 reported in the same month last year.
"With stock remaining thin on the ground, buyer demand is focused on the best quality vehicles and this is driving values up. Sale conversion rates also rose in January as buyers competed for stock," commented BCA's UK operations director Simon Henstock.
He added that increasing activity in the online arena also helped to boost sales volumes over recent months.
The news follows the recent announcement from BCA of a 4.7 per cent annual rise for average used car values during December 2012 to £6,199.
Senior editor for CAP Derren Martin noted at the time that three-year-old stock in particular has now become the "bread and butter" of traders in the UK.
