The used car sector continues to offer outstanding value to fleet providers looking to offload older models, new figures from British Car Auctions (BCA) have revealed.
Duncan Ward, BCA general manager for commercial vehicles, commented: "Commercial vehicles entered for sale by company fleets and corporate operators are highly prized because they often come with a comprehensive service history and just one owner's name in the log book."
In October, average UK fleet and lease used car values stood at £6,518 – up 1.7 per cent from the preceding month and 25.3 per cent higher than during the same month last year.
Furthermore, average mileage for vehicles coming to the market last month was considerably lower than in October 2012 – 69,547 miles compared to 72,352 – while the typical age for models was also less at 40.84 months (45.24 in 2012).
Mr Ward noted buyers are now having to bid higher and harder to secure the same type of stock they were purchasing for less in the past due to this increased level of competition.
