The Ford Focus has maintained its position as the most popular vehicle in the world during the first quarter of 2013.
According to analysis of global registration data by Polk, sales for vehicles across the Focus range totalled 288,724 in the three months to the end of March this year – an 18 per cent upturn on the same period in 2012.
Major markets for the model were shown to be the UK, China and Brazil, with the manufacturer now producing its Focus range at nine production plants on four continents.
Roelant de Waard, vice-president for marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe, commented: "Continual development has been critical to the Focus' global success, as demonstrated by the new Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost with 99 g/km CO2 that will launch in Europe early next year."
He added the statistics speak for themselves, with the Focus demonstrating excellent consumer pull in all the markets in which it is available.
