Ford has been commended for its longstanding commitment to reducing carbon emissions in its vehicles at the 2012 Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) Awards.
The firm was praised at LowCVP's Tenth Anniversary ceremony at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in London this week (January 29th), with judge Andy Eastlake stating the vehicle manufacturer has had a considerable impact on promoting green issues in the UK automotive sector during the last ten years.
Ford chief engineer Simon Palmer said: "This award recognises the scale of Ford's investment in powertrain engineering and manufacturing in the UK and the significant contribution Ford has been able to make in lowering carbon emissions."
Toyota also picked up two awards at this year's LowCVP ceremony, being named Car and Van Manufacturer of the Year, while managing director of Toyota Motor Europe's London office Graham Smith was named this year's Outstanding Individual in Promoting Low Carbon Transport.
